Wenn du vorhast, innerhalb Deutschlands mit der Bahn zu fahren, dann schau dir unbedingt die "Tickets und Angebote" an. Hier siehst du zum Beispiel, dass du mit dem "Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket" in Gruppen von bis zu 5 Personen für insgesamt 44 € bis 72 € in Regionalzügen durch ganz Deutschland fahren kannst.
Es gibt ab dem 1. Mai 2023 auch das monatlich 49 € teure Deutschland-Ticket. Damit kannst unbegrenzt mit Regionalzügen in ganz Deutschland und mit den Öffentlichen Transportmitteln innerhalb von Städten fahren. Dieses Ticket ist jedoch nur im Abonnement erhältlich und eignet sich damit nicht für Touristen.
Das Stadt-Land-Meer-Ticket kostet für eine Hin- und Rückfahrt zwischen den Städten Berlin, Wismar, Rostock und Stralsund 40€. Zwischenstopps sind erlaubt und das Ticket ist pro Richtung 2 Tage lang gültig.
Es gibt noch viele weitere regionale Angebote.
If you plan to travel within Germany by train, make sure to check out the "Tickets and Offers". Here you can see, for example, that you can use the so-called "Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket" to travel by regional trains throughout Germany in groups of up to 5 people for a total of €44 to €72.
Starting from May 1st, 2023, there will also be the monthly €49 Germany-Ticket. With this ticket, there is unlimited travel by regional trains throughout Germany and you can use public transport within cities. However, this ticket is only available by subscription and is therefore not suitable for tourists.
The Stadt-Land-Meer-Ticket costs €40 for a round trip between the cities of Berlin, Wismar, Rostock, and Stralsund. Stops along the way are allowed and the ticket is valid for 2 days per direction.
There are many other regional offers available.

In ICE-Zügen sowie in Regionalzügen bekommt man mit dem Kauf des Tickets nicht automatisch eine Sitzplatzreservierung. Diese muss man gegen eine Gebühr dazubuchen. Wenn man es nicht macht, riskiert man, in vollen Zügen keinen Sitzplatz mehr zu bekommen.
In ICE and regional trains, purchasing a ticket does not automatically come with a seat reservation. You have to pay an additional fee in order to add a seat reservation. If you don't, you can risk not getting a seat in crowded trains.

In Deutschland gibt es viele Orte, die der Erholung und der Entspannung dienen. An diesen speziellen, staatlich anerkannten Orten wird pro Gast pro Übernachtung eine Steuer erhoben, die "Kurtaxe" genannt wird.
Von dieser Steuer werden die Instandhaltung und die Infrastruktur der Orte finanziert, zum Beispiel Duschen am Strand, Wanderwege oder Kulturveranstaltungen. Gäste bekommen eine "Gästekarte", mit der sie in einigen Einrichtungen wie Museen Ermäßigungen bekommen und örtliche Transportmittel kostenlos nutzen dürfen.
Es gibt sie beispielsweise an der Ostseeküste - wo auch Tagesgäste "Eintritt" für den Strand bezahlen müssen, auf der Insel Rügen oder auf den Inseln in der Nordsee, an vielen Orten in Bayern, im Schwarzwald, im Thüringer Wald, entlang des Bodensees, ...
Die Höhe der Kurtaxe wird von den Gemeinden oder Landkreisen festgelegt und liegt im Durchschnitt bei zwischen 1 und 3 Euro pro Gast und pro Nacht.
In Germany, there are many places that serve the purpose of recreation and relaxation. At these special, state-recognized places, a tax called "Kurtaxe" is levied per guest per night.
This tax is used to finance the maintenance and infrastructure of the places, such as showers at the beach, hiking trails, or cultural events.
Guests receive a "guest card" which gives discounts at some facilities such as museums, and local transportation can be used for free.
These taxes exist, for example, on the Baltic Sea coast - where even day visitors have to pay an "entrance fee" for the beach - on the island of Rügen, on the islands in the North Sea, in many places in Bavaria, in the Black Forest, in the Thuringian Forest, along Lake Constance, and many more.
The amount of the Kurtaxe is determined by the municipalities or districts and is usually between 1 and 3 euros on average, per guest and per night.

Pay for clean toilets
Auf Bahnhöfen und größeren Autobahnraststätten gibt es oft Toilettenanlagen des Unternehmens Sanifair. Sie sind stets sauber und hygienisch, u.a. weil die Toilettenbenutzung dort nicht umsonst ist. Man bekommt bei der Bezahlung von einem Euro einen Wert-Bon über 1 € ausgedruckt, welchen man anschließend im Geschäft oder im Restaurant vorzeigen kann, um das Guthaben einzulösen. Kinder brauchen nicht zu bezahlen.
At train stations and bigger highway rest areas, you often find toilet facilities provided by the company Sanifair. They are always clean and hygienic, partly because using the toilets there is not free. When paying, 1 €, you receive a value coupon worth 1 €, which you can then show in a shop or restaurant to redeem the credit. Children do not have to pay.
